Yesterday on 26 March 2020, the Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies issued further regulations in terms of the Disaster Management Act (Gazette No. 43164 of 26 March 2020).
If you operate a website in South Africa and it has a top level .za domain (.co.za or .ac.za or .org.za) you must link to www.sacoronavirus.co.za on your landing page. This must be done immediately.
Further, Internet Service Providers have an obligation to remove fake news once reported. If you see fake news circulating on a news based website or anything that looks remotely official – please report it to https://www.real411.org, and to the platform in question.
